FIrefox does not Start: Firefox is Already Running Print E-mail

After thin client froze or network failed, you made hard restart of the thin client but Firefox does not start, instead it says: Firefox already running.

It seams that the LTSP server does not understand that the thin client is restarted and the user session is still active. Our thin clients have dynamic IPs, so after restart the thin client receives new IP. The following solution just kills the user's process. I Never tested if this will happen if the thin client has static IP (assigned by MAC address).

1. Open terminal and find the process and note its number:

pgrep -u username -l firefox

2. Kill the process:

sudo pkill 29534

3. remove .parentlock file:

cd ~/.mozilla/filefox/*.default/
sudo remove .parentlock
